There's an old Chinese saying "famous mountains produce famous tea". Huang Shan is one of China's famous mountain for producing great Green teas and their Mao Feng is certainly one of the best.

Huangshan Maofeng Tea is famous all over the world. It is graded as the national top tea and exported to European counties and Hong Kong. It is very popular with the foreign friends. In 1986, it was showed in the Asian Pacific Ocean area international museum, and was used as a present to treat the foreign guest by Foreign Affairs Department.

The tea tree is growing in the short sunshine hour place in the wet earth. Each year it was sinking in the cloud and fog. So, its fresh leaves are long shoots and with thick fat and tender leaves and sweet smell.

The special class Huangshan Maofeng tea is picked up before Qingming (Pure brightness, the 5th solar moonlight.) Its standard is: one shoot and one leaf, and the tea peasants called it “the just opening sparrow’s mouth.”

The leaves should be picked up carefully and kept in order and clean. And it is carefully made. Huangshan Maofeng tea, shaped as the sparrow’s mouth, with the white hair and ivory color, tastes fresh and mellow. Enjoying the fame across the world, Huangshan Maofeng tea is really worth trying.

About Huang Shan Mao Feng tea

Huangshan Mao Feng tea is a green tea produced in the Anhui province of China. The Tea is one of the most famous teas in China and can almost always be found on the China Famous Tealist. The tea is grown near Huangshan (Yellow) Mountain, which is home to many famous varieties of Green Tea. Huangshan Mao Feng Tea's English translation is "Yellow Mountain Fur Peak" due to the small white hairs which cover the leaves and the shape of the processed leaves which resemble the peak of a mountain. The best teas are picked in the early Spring before China's Qingming Festival. When picking the tea, only the new tea buds and the leaf next to the bud are picked. It is said by local tea farmers that the leaves resemble orchid buds.

Legends of Huangshan Mao Feng Tea

According to local legend, there was a young scholar and a beautiful local girl fell madly in love. A local landowner saw the girl picking tea and wanted her for himself. He forced the girl's parents to make their daughter marry him. On the night before the wedding, the young girl snuck out of the landowners house only to find that the landowner had murdered the scholar. She went to his grave and cried until she became the rain. The scholar's body became a tea tree.
